So. What do y'all think?  I'm of two minds. 1. The wolves bonded to Wolfriders can only send with great effort and deep concentration, and they have elf-blood in them. Dolphins don't have elf-blood, so how could they send at all? On this logic, then I would say no - sea elves and wavedancers don't communicate telepathically. 2. Dolphins (aka wavedancers) on earth are thought to be a heck of a lot smarter that most animals. Could it be their native intelligence and a natural adaptation has developed their minds so that they can speak telepathically? On this logic, I would say yes, sea elves and wavedancers can communicate. I can argue either way. What do y'all think? |

I'd love to go with telepathy. Here on Earth, dolphins are acknowledged to be highly intelligent mammals; they can communicate in a way humans can learn to understand, and they are able to form deep cross-species relationships. (Minds out of the gutter, folks.) So I say, yeah, let the sea elves and wavedancers send to each other!  |

That influence on the preservers happened over a vast amount of time, in close confinement with the High Ones. I don't think the dolphins have had nearly that level of contact - but over 13,400 years, I can see the local pod being just a bit further up the evolutionary ladder than the rest of their species. |

That's a very good point, and a good idea. So maybe the dolphins can't exactly send, but they can "hear" sends, and their thoughts are unusually clear and deep for a mammal? |
