The night had seemed to both fly on swift wings, and drag on wounded paws. The prospect of a rest, a long rest, made the Wolfrider eager to reach the end of their journey, and that excitement communicated itself to their wolf-friends, who frequently gamboled like new-weaned pups as they travelled the game trails along the river.
As the light of the moons began to fade, and the horizon silvered, then blushed a delicate pink, the Wolfriders heard the call of their tree-travelling scouts. A clearing was opening up ahead, and the site seemed suitable for their long stop.
The Wolfriders spilled off the trail and into the tree-lined glade, pausing for a moment to look their fill before they drifted more fully into the open.

"My, my," Shellslip whispered admiringly, and Sniffer "wuffed", tail wagging, as he caught his elf-friend's pleasure at the sight. The grass seemed to become waves of gold as the daystar rose, the sky gradually lightening and painting the clouds with vibrant colors. Maybe this wouldn't be the place to make their holt, but it was a nice place to rest.
**Do we stop here?** Shellslip sent openly, hoping to catch Stormfire's attention, or perhaps one of the elder's.

**Do we stop here?** Shellslip sent openly, hoping to catch Stormfire's attention, or perhaps one of the elder's. Stormfire slid off Snowtreader's back and let out her breath in a sigh of satisfaction at the sight before her. She inhaled the air, savoring its many scents even as she watched Snowtreader's reactions. The she-wolf's tail wagged as gleefully as a cub's, even as she raised her muzzle to sniff for danger. *Let's take a little look around first, Shellslip,* Stormfire answered, and turned to the scouts. *Longdusk, Windsoft? Do you two want to see if anything's up, or do you want some of us to come with you?*
