The audible THUD of Sunsong's abrupt meeting with the ground startled him, and the discordant "ripples" that resulted from the action pinged against his mind, making Silent choke on the last of his food. He jumped to his feet in alarm, looking to where everyone was running.
For a moment there was such a racket, nothing made sense, and he had to focus to get through the mental cacophony. Ah; so Sunsong was not seriously hurt. She'd be all right. Silent smiled in relief, glad to hear it, and just as happy to hear Stormfire order a rest. He wasn't tired just yet, but he would curl up in a branch-cup anyway.

Well, that reaction hurt a bit. Moondew knew Longdusk was serious, and she liked that, but he didn't have to react that angry! High ones, it wasn't as if she didn't take the duty serious.. she just would've liked the company.
Turning her back to Longdusk, she decided she would try again later when the male had cooled down a bit. Watching the commotion around Sunsong, she was happy to see the plantshaper was alright, and silently agreed with Mist. It would be good to stay put for a couple of nights, to be able to rest and explore a bit without trying to cover as much ground as possible.
"I'll take first watch Chieftess. Because if we're not moving on tomorrow, I don't plan to leave my furs for quite a while once I get in them." Besides, this way she could keep Longdusk company for a while once they switched, without him having a reason to run away instantly.

First Silent fell, and then Sunsong? Longdusk snorted. They were supposed to be elves. Graceful, lightfooted. He shook his head, and by doing so remembered why at least Sunsong fell. He didn't get much of Silent. He felt tired, and was actually grateful that Moondew offered to take the first watch. Maybe he'd been too hard on her. Maybe he had become a bit groggy because of the ongoing trek, and he liked the idea of resting a couple of days. "Very well. I'll relieve you when the sun is at its highest point."
Firecat nodded, agreeing to Mist as well. "This would be a perfect spot to do so. There's fresh water, a river full of fish, and we can gather food here, before we leave, as well. I'd love to have a good rest."

Softling shook her head at the gaggle of elves circling Sunsong. 'Poor thing can barely balance herself on the ground, with all that singing making her lightheaded.' Softling thought with a quiet smile. She yawned quietly and already began regretting her decision to sleep away from the pack.

Now that everyone seemed to have calmed down, Sunsong made her careful way into the tree-cave she'd fashioned for them. Shade followed her, the large pack with Sunsong's belongings dangling from her mouth and dragging on the ground. Without her entire tribe gathered around to stare at her, Sunsong felt free to release the painful groan she'd kept bottled inside. Limping now, and one hand braced against her lower back, she sought out the denning spot she'd shaped for herself.
Shade whined and dropped the pack when Sunsong came to a stop. The plantshaper knelt down carefully and extracted the furs she'd been using for her bedding since their journey began. She didn't bother with any arrangements; she simply wrapped them snugly around herself and curled into a ball in the hollow. Shade burrowed in beside her, the wolf's warm bulk providing support and comfort.
Sunsong fell instantly asleep.

As her tribemates sought out their sleeping places, Stormfire looked for Sunsong. She found the treeshaper asleep beside her wolf, Shade, and sagged down against a bulging limb.
Snowtreader approached her and lay down. The she-wolf thumped her tail on the ground several times, and Stormfire scratched her ears. **What a long night's travel it's been,** she sent to Snowtreader, who grunted and closed her eyes. Reaching into her pack, Stormfire got out her own sleeping fur and snuggled close to her wolf-friend's body.
She heard two wolves approach and drop to the ground. Then a long, drawn-out groan, and someone collapsing beside her. Stormfire opened an eye and saw it was Whirlwind. Her sister gave her one of her usual smirks, and winked.
"I'm not Tallspear, but I don't snore," she joked, throwing her fur over both of them. Amused, Stormfire adjusted it so that it covered them equally.
**Where is he?**
**Ask around. That one's popular.** Whirlwind snickered. **Have you seen Softling around Tallspear? I think the cub's got it bad for him.**
**I don't blame her. He's not a bad catch, when he's caught.** Stormfire sighed and closed her eyes again. **Sister . . .**
**You're worried? Over what?**
Humans. Trolls. The whole world that unrolled before her every hot summer night. But all Stormfire could say was, **Everything.**
Whirlwind chuckled. **Well, don't be so wasteful. You only need one worry a night, so pick one and stick with it.** She gave a sigh and grew limp and still. Stormfire did likewise, letting sleep claim her despite the fears that prickled at the back of her mind.

Softling breathed a sigh of relief to see the wolves rejoining the tribe in their dens; her father had often discouraged her from keeping Snapbone too close to the den for sleep, that his rank within the pack might suffer for his absence. For his advice, she had taken to sleeping amongst the pack itself, for Snapbone and her own comfort.
She knew she was needed here however, at least as a soother of her own fears. The tracker saw Snapbone emerge from the trees with the pack as they went to den with their elf-friends and sent to him urgently.
As Softling nestled down in her den, Snapbone whining at her clingy arms around his middle, she felt a pang of pity for the young chieftess. She did not mean to be so harsh in her thoughts of Stormfire. Perhaps she could make it up to the chieftess somehow...that certainly didn't mean she was going to show throat though! She smiled at her own stubbornness and fell into sleep.
Softling dreamt of running beside Snapbone as a sister wolf.

Evenstar remained at the roots of the den tree, watching as the colorful sky. Sometimes there was as much to see in the beginning and end of each day as at night. Almost.
The tanner started to climb for one last look over this new place, maybe home. Farpace sat at the roots, eyeing her elf-friend who did so many strange things.

Journey curled up on a branch on his stomach, feet crossed at the ankles, head hanging down. He planned to out-wait his tribemates and then, as they slept, climb down and sneak away to explore the land.
Unfortunately, the minute he put his head in his arms, he was dreaming of running through a wide field of tall golden flowers under a brilliant, starry sky, and that was the end of his exploration for the day.
