She knows what she talks about, is serious in general, has a slight fear of abandonement which probably led her to decide she wanted to follow Stormfire at the last minute, seeing her son and soulsister packing their stuff. Treats everyone equally and friendly, finds it real difficult to open up to people to tell them what's really on their mind.
[1-30] Being born after a difficult pregnancy, the cub was named Tangle. She grew up as a silent, thoughtful cub, very curious but she wanted to figure things out on her own, rather than asking a lot of questions. She was a handful for her parents, following everything that aroused her curiosity and was constantly being watched by either parents, older sister (with whom she never developed a tight bond) or tribesmates.
She found her soulname easily at the fairly young age of 14, while she was asleep and when she woke up she felt complete and in tune with her surroundings. She felt more mature than she actually was and she swiftly took her place as one of the holt's tanners and weavers.
[31-150] This was also the time she got a different interest in her playmate Feather, who changed his name in Tracker when he proved himself in the hunting parties. Being of almost the same age, they had spent a lot of time together, but while they were growing up -- the mature and introvert Redleaf, and the reckless and blunt Tracker, her feelings for him changed. She admired and followed him in silence, though, unsure about what he would think about it.
In the meantime, she did have a few casual lovemates, but the lovemateing was loose and eventually always broke up. She tried to convince Tracker to share her furs which sometimes worked out positive, but mostly he declined. To her, it seemed that he was busier convincing the hunt that he was capable of leading hunts, despite his young age, than enjoy the pleasures of life. After a while, she just didn't ask anymore.
But while she stopped asking, she couldn't help but notice that his eyes drew towards her when he passed by. Now she wasn't pushing him anymore, he was coming around? Tangle couldn't help but notice the irony and after having him dangle for a bit, she asked him to lovemate her. To her utmost surprise, he accepted, and the two of them couldn't be more happier.
[151-169] When Tangle and Tracker recognized, it didn't come as a surprise for the both of them (well.. maybe a little). Jokingly, Tangle said she had foreseen it since they were cubs, and Tracker called her Lightgaze for it. She stuck with the name. Sadly, their daughter Sprout died when she was sixteen turns of age, when she was killed by a bear during her soul search. Devastated, the lifemate's sought each other's company and their bond deepened even more.
[208-385] The second recognition struck, and this time a boy was born who they lovingly called Shadow. They kept him close and protected, but the young boy struggled to be freer than that. Always trying to please his father, the lad grew frustrated when nothing seemed to work. Lightgaze knew that Tracker had shaped a distance between him and his cub because of what happened with their first cub, but that he didn't intend to make Shadow feel bad.
She was almost sick with worry when Shadow went on his soul search, but the lad returned swiftly, announcing that he'd found it. Later, he told her that he had already known before he went, but that he just wanted to find out what it was like.
[386-509] The moment Tracker died, Lightgaze knew and cried out in pain. While worried tribesmates brought her to a healer, someone returned from outside the holt, telling Tracker had died in a mudslide. Lightgaze was devastated with grief and lost her will to live. She pushed her son away, who tried to rationalize her lifemate's death. Tracker had been the center of her life, and now he wasn't here anymore, she was lost. It felt like a part of her heart and soul had been ripped out. For months she did nothing more than eating and sleeping, to the extent that Shadow felt the need of taking her in his den, worried that something might happen to her or that she would hurt herself by doing something stupid. Slowly, very slowly, she regained her senses and was able to give Tracker's death a place. Sensing that Shadow would never understand the bond she had shared with Tracker, she named him Longdusk. Tracker was dead, but at least she had felt what she had felt and she feared her son would never be able to, rationalizing anything.
She continued to live with Longdusk for a while, but decided to go back to her old den when she felt well enough for it. While she had thought the memories of the den Tracker and she had shared would haunt her, they felt comforting.
[509-597] When Longdusk recognized Skylight, Lightgaze couldn't be happier for her son, hoping he would experience the love she had known once. Sadly (in her eyes) Longdusk and Skylight remained more friends than lovers, though they did lifemate. Their little daughter Moth reminded her of Sprout, but in a good way. She loved to have her grandcub around, and it made her realize that if Recognition ever struck again it would be weird, but very welcome. Skylight died when Moth was still young, and Lightgaze mourned for her and Longdusk and the feelings they had never shared.
When Moth had become Fleetfoot and moved out of her parent's den, Lightgaze lovemated Icedancer and Willowspring, an elder couple. Though they shared a nice time and warm furs, the threemating broke up after a couple of turns when Willowspring died and Icedancer pulled back inside himself (like Lightgaze had done before, but to a much lesser extend).
When Fleetfoot died, it was Lightgaze's turn to comfort Longdusk. Knowing what it was to lose a cub, she tried to help him like he had tried to help her before, but he had to pull out of it on his own. He did, but Lightgaze found him much more withdrawn and torn than he used to be.
When Sureshot and Stormfire announced the tribal split, she instantly knew Longdusk would leave and she was right: He volunteered to go as one of the first. Initially, Lightgaze didn't want to go, because she had her life and memories here. She would miss her son gravely, but found herself unable to say her holt goodbye. It was a shock to her that her soul sister Redthorn would also leave. She didn't think it could be possible, her having a young cub, but when Sureshot eventually agreed, she started to doubt her decision.
Over a period of time, Lightgaze thought and dubbed about it and when the group was almost ready to leave, she asked Stormfire if she would willing to accept another elder on her journey. To Redthorn and Longdusk she said that she could have her memories everywhere, and that Tracker's soul would always be around her.

I'm all for her being Sunsong's aunt. Sunsong's mother's name is Fernflower. However, I think we'll have to say that Lightgaze will be the last elder approved to come along on the trip. We don't want to completely strip Sureshot of all his elders!

Yay, thanks! is Fernflower older or younger than Lightgaze... and is she, too , a plantshaper?

Fernflower is a plantshaper, yes - but it's your choice whether she's older or younger. Younger would probably work better, and probably by a couple of hundred years, at least. That way they won't be really close and Lightgaze won't be to torn about leaving. Fernflower just needs to be over 100.

Yep, that's what I figured. Lightgaze would probably have been closer to Redthorn anyway. I'd like Lightgaze to keep this age, you don't mind have Fernflower 100 years older over this age?

Oh oh oh... and another VERY long history added. Anna, I mentioned her bond with her sister... is it all right like this? Peachy, how and when did Redthorn and Lightgaze became soul sisters? Did Lightgaze knew as soon as Redthorn was born? I've said she would be a tanner/weaver, do we have weavers? If the climate is well enough, we could have cotton I think one could never have enough tanners, too, but if you'd rather want her to have another fucntion, let me know. Also, Lightgaze can hunt, but prefers the holt area so it can mean some uneasiness during the trip

It says her cub name is Redleaf in the beginning, and Tangle later?
