Personality/History: Icemark is a gentle-natured elf, content with quiet pursuits and and simple pleasures. He’s fascinated with plants and the uses they can be put to for medicine, food, and even dying clothes. He enjoys spending time to himself as much as he enjoys being in the midst of his tribe. While the Wolfriders are meat-eaters, they have found the value, over the long turnings of the seasons, of plant foods and Icemark has always been fascinated with what can be done with them. He prefers meat over plant, always, but as a supplement and a filler in lean times? Perfectly acceptable! He is often doing different things to plants and trying to persuade his tribemates to try his concoctions. Even the most wolfish will admit that some of his soups are welcome on freezing white-cold nights.
While Icemark himself is a quiet elf, he appreciates the flash and fire in the more lively members of the tribe. He enjoys their passion of life.
Because of his quiet, gentle ways, Icemark is a magnet for the cubs. His patience and willingness to devote his time and attention to them are valued by the tribe. While all tribe members actively participate in the tending, teaching, and raising of children, Icemark is the one who’ll stay at the holt to watch the cubs while the others go out hunting. That’s partly why he spends so much time awake and gathering in the sunlight – so he’ll have the night free to spend with the cubs.
While Icemark has had many lovemates in his life – and still does, on occasion - he always felt drawn to the huntress Redthorn. By the time he was born, her lifemate and child had long been gone, and she appeared to have recovered from their loss. Icemark slowly got close to Redthorn, placing no demands on her, and eventually they became lovemates. When Recognition hit them very unexpectedly, Icemark was elated even as he knew Redthorn would have a vastly different reaction. He tried to give her time, but Recognition is merciless and as the days passed resistance became impossible. Their lifemating became an natural extension of their Recognition and while Icemark feels that this is right for them, he resists the temptation of holding Redthorn too close or making demands on her.
