Alright, here's what had kind of flowed through my head when I imagined one of Softling's possible futures...actually, would that be too much a spoiler; it is sort of deep, long term stuff.
Should I save it for later? I don't want to reveal anything and ruin any tasty surprises. Or would I have to reveal it anyways as part of future plotlines? How much 'surprise!' room do we have in plots?

Well, this is the rule of thumb I'd use: if it's going to impact the tribe in a way that we'll need to account for it in the holt-wide planned RPs, then tell us. But if it's not, then you don't need to tell us. And we're flexible. Nothing is set in stone, so if you do something with Softling that we hadn't accounted for or known in advance, then we'll adjust on the go. However, if there's a very specific function within the tribe that you want her to have, then it's best to let us know as soon as possible, so we can plan for it. She's young, so she's still obviously in the training/not much responsibility stage of life, but if you want her to be training for something in particular - like tanning or, with her proclivities, maybe being the wolf-tender (kinda the vetinarian for the wolves, since healers have difficulty healing non-elves), we do need to know that so we can take her gaining knowledge and skills into account.

One of the outcomes I had thought of was her growing up and through either some series of events or lack thereof, siding with the wolf blood and perhaps challenging Stormfire much later in her life, to lead the tribe back to a truely wolfish condition. I'm not saying she'd win. It'd certainly be a life lesson.

That IS long range planning! However, I wouldn't say she's 'too young' for it now. Stormfire is only 12 years her senior. This should be quite interesting!

I want her to be more secure in her wolf blood before she does it. She's not at the level of thinking of a challenge, just grumbles. I'd have to wait for an event to trigger her loyalties. Perhaps she might become Stormfire's most loyal follower!

Heh. Stormfire: "We'll ride that wolf when it's weaned. Who knows what could happen?" . . . I don't know if the Chieftess is being pragmatic or guarded. She just gave me one of her looks--very calm, slightly smiling . . . um, okay, I'm gonna shut up now.

Lol...what might make Softling a little full of herself is if Snapbone or some other Softling wolf-friend became alpha someday. That would definitely boost her morale.
