According to my research, there about four 'ranks' in a wolfpack: Alpha: the wolves with the most independence and freedom. This is usually the male and female wolf that 'lead' the pack. Beta: these are dominant wolves that aren't alphas, but sorta act as 'second in command' types. Omega: this is the lowest ranking wolf in the pack, often the nurse ro the one that stays behind to guard the den. The omega has the least independence and is the most submissive wolf in the pack. And then there's 'everyone else,' ranking between betas and omegas. So! Since the wolves are a key element in the life of a Wolfrider's life (and because Phoebe asked for it and it's a real good idea) we should figure out where our wolves are in their ranks. Below is the list of wolves so far. If there's not a rank by your wolf's name, post what it should be. But remember! There's only one alpha male, one alpha female, and one omega! Flea (Longdusk): ? Tip-Ears (Wingfoot): female Longlope (Tallspear): male Bigears (Whirlwind): male Snowtreader (Stormfire): female - alpha female Farpace (Evenstar): female - beta female Bristlecone (Windsoft): female - midrank Fastclaw (Oakstaff): male - midrank Whitecold (Mist): female - midrank Shade (Sunsong): female - midrank Frostbite (Firecat): ? - midrank Whitecrest (Redthorn): male - midrank Snapbone (Softling): male - midrank Wanderlust (Silent): female - omega

Which ranks to we use between omega and beta? Low / Low-mid / Mid / Mid-High and High?
Or just Low/Mid/High?

I'd just call 'em all mid-rank, unless y'all want to be more detailed than that?

How should we establish alphas and betas?

Eh, I made a list of mine. You don't have to.
Snapbone: Light brown male with golden brown eyes, just grown from being a pup, stubborn but playful, probably midrank Farpace: Light gray with white muzzle, tail, and front paws, gold eyes. Very maternal, loving. Older female, could be alpha, beta, or midrank. Whitecrest: Dark brown with white patch on forehead and paws, golden brown eyes, older female, could be alpha or midrank. Pretty serious and a fine hunter.

Kris suggests we role dice to determine alpha male. It's as good a way as any, I suppose!

I'm fine with being all midranked, except for Alpha, Beta and Omega. Go ahead and roll those dices, for the Omega too! Let's see how Frostbite and Flea fare
